If you find that you need a Halloween costume to go trick-or-treating with your kids or for a Halloween party that you were invited to at the last minute, you may not want to go if you don’t have a costume ready. But it’s really easy to put together a Halloween costume. With a little creative thinking you can have a homemade Halloween costume out of old clothes and stuff from your closet or attic. We have a few ideas for easy Halloween costumes below. You only need a few items to make these last-minute costumes.
Scarecrow
This is an easy Halloween costume. All you need are some faded jeans or overalls, a straw hat, an oversize flannel shirt, rope, and some straw or raffia. Use the rope for a belt. Stuff some straw up the sleeves and in the pants legs. Secure with a piece of rope. Make sure some straw sticks out. You may want to use raffia instead of straw, which can be itchy.
Mummy
This classic Halloween costume is easy to make. You will need a white sweat suit and plenty of white bandages. Ask a friend to help tie the bandage around you. Sprinkle white powder on your hair and darken the areas around your eyes with makeup. You are now officially a mummy.
Ghost
A white bed sheet is all you need for this quick and easy Halloween costume. It’s great for men, women and kids alike. Cut a hole in the middle of the sheet for your head to slip through. Wear the bed sheet over your clothes. Paint your face white and use black eye shadow under your eyes. Spray white glitter on your hair and you’re ready to go.
Jellyfish Costume
For this Halloween costume, you will need an umbrella. Cover the umbrella in bubble wrap. Use your favorite color of bubble wrap. Cut the bubble wrap to make long jellyfish tentacles. Attach small lights or flashlight to the inside of the umbrella. When you go trick-or-treating, twirl the jellyfish umbrella to make it look like the real thing. This easy Halloween costume is a sure winner.
